Swan Valley Wineries

Swan Valley is a short drive from Perth, Western Australia, and is renowned for its rich wine heritage. With your Swan Valley tourist map, there are forty wineries to explore, some of them established by European migrants many years ago.

For lovers of fortified wines such as ports, muscats and liqueur wines you will be pleased to know the Swan Valley region is famous for these. Beer lovers are not left out either with over twenty small breweries making some award winning beers, including stout, ales and German-style beers. Make a day of it with fine alfresco Swan Valley restaurants, many with live music.

Houghton's Wineries has some great old cellars with superb wines such as Houghton's White Burgundy, created by wine master, Jack Mann. With the wonderful weather, enjoy a picnic concert in this Swan Valley winery.

Sandalford Winery offers tours to see the whole process, from the growing of the grape to the actual processing into wine. Enjoy a black-tie dinner or picnic on the lawn with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Enjoy your day even more by taking a cruise up the Swan River! There is a sister winery in the Margaret River region.

Your trip to the Swan Valley Wineries could also include a visit to Whiteman Park, home to native flora and Australian animals such as kangaroos and echidnas. There are also train rides, tractor and motor museums and the highlight: the Caversham Wildlife Park.
